Remove hair from carpet and upholstery
I will discuss four ways to remove hair from fabrics.
-
Lint brush
-
tape
-
latex brush
-
vacuuming

Using a lint brush, the brush is like short hair velvet and it holds lint and hair but it is very limited in removing hair although very safe. It is safe because it won’t leave any sticky residue or snag the fabric.
TAPE: using tape rollers or sheets will pull hair out of fabric but once it looses its glue or adhesive it will not pull any hair from fibers. Another risk this process has is that the glue will transfer to the fabric and cause re-soiling.
Latex brush: it is a brush that has about half inch thick soft bristles and grabs hair and lint and pulls it from carpet. This is a very effective method because it will pull the hair out . If you can also wear latex gloves that will aid in removal of hair from latex brush and throw it in a trash can. This usually will have a long handle so that you can stand while removing hair, this can save your back
A vacuum: there are vacuums that have an extension and a wider attachment this kind of vacuum will suck but hair hooks itself to carpet and you need more force to pull it out from carpet.
A rotating brush attached to a vacuum is very effective because the brush will physically pull hair out of the carpet. Much of the hair will also get vacuumed into the bag but eventually the roller will get full and it will not pull any hair from the fiber. The hair has to be cut with a curved sack knife. Be careful not to cut the belt the machine.
A combination of these methods will give you much more versatility in removing hair. The reason it is so important to remove hair from carpets is because if it is not done before cleaning the hair will not come out of the carpet and vacuuming with a rotating brush cannot be done because the carpet will be damp and moisture will go into the vacuum chamber and cause slipping of the belt or residue sticking to the vacuum walls causing bad odors later. There is a sequence that needs to be followed in order for the hair to be properly removed. The goal is to remove 100 percent of the hair but that is not really possible there usually are at least a few hairs left.
